Rab & Lesley's Second Big Trip
Days 1 to 5 - Sydney
And we are off...
Day 1 - Sunday 2nd December 2018
Flying out to Sydney
Almost 3 years to the day since our last Big Trip (1st December 2015) we left home at 3a.m. for Edinburgh for the first of three flights taking us to Sydney
Second flight from London Heathrow to Changi Airport Singapore and finally to Sydney arriving on...
Day 2 - 3rd December 2018
Sydney
Our daughter met us at the airport and we finally arrived at her flat in Drummoyne at 10p.m. - 32 hours after leaving home
Shattered - went straight to bed
Day 3 - 4th December 2018
Sydney
Waited in for the plumber to fix a leaky pipe then headed out on a rather dull day for a walk along Sister Bay before heading to a Girl Guide Family Barbeque
Sister Bay
Can't show you pictures of the barbeque (too many kids to seek permission) but on the way back to the flat...
Santa doesn't appear to have reindeer here!
Day 4 - 5th December 2018
Sydney
Still waiting for the summer sun but got out to the local swimming pool
Olympic size, saltwater and heated
Mrs D found a new friend
Back at the flat for lunch - view of Five Dock Bay from the balcony
Almost under the flight path for the airport
After lunch we took a stroll along Five Dock Bay at the end of the street
and saw a good variety of bird life, Willie Wagtail
Australian Pelican
Think this is a White faced heron?
We also saw sacred ibis, crested pigeons, mynah and red billed gulls
There would appear to be a very good range of life in the water too
These plants caught my eye
Day 5 - 6th December 2018
Sydney
Morning spent Christmas shopping before it gets too hot
After a very nice Thai lunch I went off on my own taking a ferry from Drummoyne
to Chiswick wharf to walk back along western end of Five Dock Bay
View of the centre of Sydney from Drummoyne wharf, you can just see the Harbour bridge to the left
Seen with the 300mm lens
Heading to the north of Five Dock Bay under Victoria Road - Drummoyne on the right Huntley's Point on the left
South shore of Five Bay Dock. The end of Dening St is dead centre.
Two views across the mouth of the bay from Chiswick
Walking round the bay I was followed by this red billed gull that kept dive bombing me
